In the Philippines, AES entered the market through its acquisition of the 600 MW coal-fired power plant in Masinloc, Zambales. We attribute the success to the unwavering commitment of our people and partners in delivering excellent results every day. After our rehabilitation program at the plant, significant incremental output has been achieved. This incremental energy supply has been critical over the last 16 months as drought, supply shortages, and increased demand has caused significant generation shortfalls. Without the incremental power, industries, and largely, the economy would have been impacted.
We are a learning organization. Our people have accepted the challenge to operate to international quality and safety standards and are now sustaining these themselves. We have extended our improvement activities to the homes of our people and the communities in which they live.
